Providing ground school instruction since 2014

About Heli Tutor

Having operated as a commercial helicopter pilot and ground instructor since 2014, I made the decision to launch Heli Tutor in 2022 in order to bring ground school theory tuition to people across the UK. Having been through the journey myself I understand the challenges that the theoretical knowledge exams pose, from principles of flight problems to flight computer frustrations, and I have produced my lessons to focus not just on the learning objectives, but also techniques for use in the CAA exams themselves. Many of the topics covered in both PPL and ATPL can be complex, and are much better understood when explained by an instructor than when read in a book, especially when taking into account differing learning styles we all naturally have.

How it works

The most popular method of delivery is to do an entire PPL (H) subject in a single day online over Zoom. I use a variety of resources including interactive presentations, practical demonstrations and practice exam questions. I can also attend your current flying school or another location - I am based in Hampshire and can travel to any flying school in Hampshire, West Sussex, London, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset and Wiltshire - and deliver the training face-to-face, which is a great way to learn and provides the best interaction and sharing of experiences. Following completion of the session, you are then able to take the exam with your ATO that you are currently doing your flying training with.

I also offer ad-hoc sessions on an hourly basis if you simply need some tuition in a single area of a topic, and these are available both in the day time and evening, weekdays and weekends.
